Have a Little Faith

Laurence (or is it Lawrence?) Fishburne was on the View this past week promoting a movie he was in this weekend. When they showed a clip of the movie, I said to myself, "Paula, that sure looks like the church in Detroit where Nedra and David were married."

I forgot I wanted to watch the movie until tonight. It was called Have a Little Faith and was written by Mitch Albom, a writer for the Detroit Free Press who has written several good books AND his articles are something to be read also.

Tonight, as I was flipping through channels, I an across it. I yelled, well, said REAL LOUD to the husband, "Watch this! I think the church is the one where Nedra was married."

The scene started out in front of the church and it looked SO like the one we were in.

When they went to the side door, it looked more familiar and inside the church they showed the balcony in front of the stained glass windows and I KNEW it was the church.

The movie was awesome. It will be re-aired on the Hallmark Channel. If you didn't see it, you must. It is another of Mitch's true life stories.

Now, I'm wondering if we might have met Mitch Albom when we were at Nedra's wedding?  He would have been attending the church the same time she was, so it is very probable. I wonder if the misister who married Nedra and her hubby was Rev Covington, the Fishburne character. We were there before the roof was patched in 2009. When we saw the church, the hole wasn't as big as it was in the movie . . but they did have buckets and pans around.

My August ornaments

The Santa stocking design is adapted from LA's Christmas Ornaments book #3428 produced by Kooler Design Studios. It's design 7 from the Littlest Stockings series, charted to be stitched on plastic canvas. I stitched it on 18 count Aida, made a few little changes to the shape, added a cuff, and backed it to turn it into a real little stocking. The finished stockings are just over an inch wide at the top, and a bit under 2 inches long.

Dear all

Dear stitchers.

It's been a long, long time since I updated this blog and I apologise. It got very out of hand with hundreds of stitchers wanting to join. We were actually well over the maximum number of authors Blogger allows and I couldn't add anyone else.

Neglect has whittled the numbers right down though and I have just gone through and deleted all authors who haven't posted in the last six months. This leaves a very select few and we're open for new contributors again.

I apologise if I have deleted you as an author and you still want to contribute. Please understand that the number of authors was huge and I had to make a decision on who was still active. If you've been deleted because you haven't posted recently, but would definitely like to post in the future, please email me.

If you'd like to join for the first time, please also send me an email. However, please ONLY join if you are intending to post pictures of your Christmas ornaments. This is supposed to be a SAL and the idea is to encourage each other. If you just want to follow us feel free, but I would ask you not to email me and ask to join. I don't expect all authors to post every month, but authors must post every six months or so or else they will be removed to make room for other more active people.

I hope you understand. I've had emails from people wanting to join and couldn't add them so had to delete inactive posters. If you do want to post and be active, please just let me know. If you've emailed me recently, please try again now! Thanks for reading. Nicki x
