My third Ornie

Has been a long time since I last posted here. Have been distracted by other things to stitch another ornie! Anyhow, I told myself I must stitch another, so this snowman was stitched from Joan Elliott's book "Wit & Wisdom". It is stitched on 22ct blue hardanger fabric and DMC floss including the gold light effects. It is finished with a blue felt lining ready to be hung!

I actually had most of this ornament finished early in the month but I hate doing borders and it took me until this past weekend to finish it up. It's one of two ornaments in this series. I stitched it on a piece of 28ct mystery linen that I found in my stash and plan on finishing it as a pillow ornie.

Christmas Cardinal

Here is my August ornament. It is called Christmas Cardinal, and I stitched it from a book called 100 Cross-Stitch Ornaments, from Carol Siegal and the Dimensions Design Studio. It was published in 1991 by the Meredith Press.

Here is my June ornie.. It is part of Etoiles Noel by Gigi R. (Scroll down - pattern is from Nov. 2006) I just used a bit of it, as the full design, which is really pretty, is 137 x 123. Now on to July and August. :) Anne

I was at my LNS last weekend and was lucky enough to get their last copy of Santas & Snowmen. I just had to have it so I bought it on the spot, picked up fabric and threads and finished my first one earlier this week. Hope to get to the others while on vacation.

Hello, I'm Barbara from Missouri. I found this Blog while surfing the net, and thought I would enjoy stitching Christmas ornaments throughout the year. I have a few new ones I've stitched earlier in the year, but not nearly as many as I would like to have. Right now, I don't have one I'm working on, but am looking through my charts for what I want to start on. Thank you for letting me join this group.

Christmas Rush

Normally most people are rushing till Christmas eve to get everyone their gifts for Christmas and all Christmas related shopping done. Ambitious crafters are up till midnight finishing those last few perfect gifts. I have been there many times myself. However early in August of last year I refused to let that happen to me again. So I bought Christmas presents for that year and this year.

Yes, I have all my Christmas gifts done already. No shopping required. No rushing to finish that last gift. No rushing mad woman this year. I am so smart! (somewhere in the distance thunder cracks). I got cocky, proud of myself and my ingenuity. So what happens.....God gave me a humility check. A very BIG humility check.

I recently moved and realized that I have no ornaments for the Christmas Tree. So what was my great plan.... why don't I make them? They will be so much cooler than the ones you buy. (The storm clouds begin to roll in) Yes, in my brilliancy I decided to make all the ornaments for our Christmas Tree.

I posted recently with the ones that I bought from Herrschners. Well I just now bought 30 more ornaments from http://www.thestitchery.com/


This adorable set of 30 ornaments come with everything floss, fabric, gold plated needle, chart and felt backings. They are actual mini Christmas stockings that you can put something in. Perhaps floss *hint, hint to hubby*. I really like the detail of the ornaments. It is hard to see in the pic, but once they come in I will post and personal pics.

That is 61 ornaments total (lightning flashes) and I have plans to buy 6 more (the rain starts to pour). They are penguins. My husband loves penguins. He will be so happy. I love to surprise him. He works really hard for our family and I think when he sees our tree with penguin ornaments he will be really, really happy. I will have a lot of fun making them too. (Hope you got a boat)

I know I will be up till the very last second making all these ornaments. I will be a mad woman this year only instead of gifts it will be ornaments, LOL. (Yep, a big boat)

Don't get cocky folks, it just doesn't pay. At least I will have some really neat ornaments!

I am new on here as well. I found this site from visiting another sitcher's blog, and it seemed like a really neat site I love making Christmas ornaments, and I have been thinking about doing an SAL for a long time, and this seemed like the perfect one for me. I haven't chosen my chart yet, but I will by this weekend. Thanks for letting me join in.

Christmas in August

I was surfering the internet and came across a Christmas SAL blog which really inspired me to get stitchin. I don't make gifts for people unless it is specifically requested because most people can't appreciate the time, effort that goes into them, and would prefer something store bought. However, this is the first Christmas in my own home and had this crazy idea to have the tree decorated in handmade ornaments either by myself or others.

this one which is on back order. Should be sent out in September 17th.

I even got my husband to say he would do the penguins. I am going to start my kids with the snow men and I will do the first kit.

If all works out we might make it a family tradition to make at least one ornament for our tree for Christmas.

Hello, and Introducing myself...I"m new...

HI Ladies,
WEll, I am so glad to have found this group, and I am looking forward to getting started on some Christmas ornaments. I would love to say I know I will get a lot of them done, but I don't dare. I know too well that my life tends to draw me away from my stitching a lot at times. So I will do my best to get a few done, and hope for more time in the future. I did buy myself 2 small Trees last year, the narrower version, they are about 4 feet tall, and I plan to use them in my entry with some white lights, or red lights....this year. I bought a bunch of little red Christmas ornaments for it, and some gold, but I do really want to replace them with my own ornaments, so I will be a part of this group for a long time I think . I love Christmas, and ornaments are so much fun to stitch and also to finish. One year I led a group and I stitched 25 ornaments that year, along with about 4 RRs -- it was a busy year for stitching, but I loved it. Hoping that I can add a few more ornaments to my trees this year, and more in 2009. BTW, I am in New Mexico...married, no children...a wonderful husband for 17 years, and counting. He has his 55th birthday this Saturday, and we're going to go out and eat at a local restaurant that gives discounts to senior citizens at 55 ....I had to laugh at that, of course, this is just a way of celebrating getting older.....and the added benefits . And my husband has a sense of humor about this sort of thing anyway, so we'll go enjoy the discount for seniors for the first time in our lives....

Have a great week ladies, and I hope to have something to show as far as an ornament before too long. I'll post again when I have picked my project.

Hi all. I completed my May 2008 Ornie today. lol I was working on Angel of Hope for the past few months and am behind in my ornies, but now I can catch up. This little one is a Lizzie Kate design. I used a Christmas tree charm instead of stitching the tree. Now on to June ornie which will probably be another Lizzie Kate design.

August Ornament and Card

Blue Mitten Ornament

Another blue exchange ornament and this time I chose to stitch one half of the 3D mitten ornament from Marie-Chantal Lord of Macha Creations, which was in the Christmas issue of The Gift of Stitching.


Mounted onto two blue pieces of felt, cording made by me and finished off with a blue marbled ceramic bead at either end of the cording.

Humbug Ornament

I wanted to try a humbug after seeing the tutorial link on here for Nicki's blog. Well I think I made a good job of it. I designed the centre piece myself.

A Blue Tree

I took part in an ornament exchange. The main colour had to be blue, so I chose this design by Debbie Draper from The Gift of Stitching christmas issue and stitched it using a variegated floss from Croatia.

I then mounted it onto blue felt and added a snowflake button to finish it off. The cording hanger is made by me too :)


I'm not quite sure why it looks like there's a crease on the fabric, it certainly didn't have it before I took the photo.

You'll all notice that I'm posting under a new name (or maybe not), but that's because my other account has been suspended by those in charge as they have classed cross stitching to be spam. That was a month ago and I've still to receive any kind of reply from them to resolve the issue. Therefore I had no alternative but to move to wordpress and my blog is now: Fire Fly Dreams. I contacted Jennifer earlier today asking if I could come back as a 'different' person! Thankfully she sent me an invite and I'm now able to post once again.

Little Santa

I've caught ornament fever!! I went through my stash and found a few I'd like to get done in the next month or two. This was my carry-a-long project last week. How could I resist the cute little guy! LOL! This Santa is from leaflet #36, St. Nicholas II by Prairie Schooler.
