Final ornaments for 2008

The ornaments themselves may be stitched but the finishing will be completed hopefully today or tomorrow. The first one is from The Prairie Schooler and the second is a Christmas Box Ornament by Country Garden Stitchery. The latter was done on a Silkweaver Opalescent Solo using Dinky Dyes Shiraz silk floss. I love these little ornaments. There are three in the series and I plan on doing the other two in the new year. Merry Christmas everyone!

October ornies

Since I'm a big fan of anything autumn, I decided to stitch something for fall as well as a Christmas ornie. The fall ornament is a Prairie Schooler pumpkin from their Autumn Leaves leaflet stitched on 14ct black Aida. It was the first time I'd used Aida in a number of years.

The second ornament was designed by Robin Clark and is from the Better Homes & Gardens 1996 Cross-Stitch Ornament issue. It's one of four Scandinavian Mitten Ornaments. My finishing leaves a lot to be desired! I am learning though!

My first pillow ornie

Stone & Threads'
Snowflake Mitten
stitched by Lynn

My September ornament is finally done and I've finished it as a pillow which is a first for me. I'm slowly trying out my wings on different finishes. Hand sewing and finishing are not my forte! It was so easy though that now I'm getting brave.

Anyways I'm pleased with how it turned out. It's called Snowflake Mitten from the designer Stone & Thread. I love their primitive patterns. I've stitched mine on a 28ct Silkweaver Solo linen using Weeks overdyed floss.

August Finish

Schoolroom Samplings Country Santa
on 28 ct Linen
stitched by Lynn
I actually had most of this ornament finished early in the month but I hate doing borders and it took me until this past weekend to finish it up. It's one of two ornaments in this series. I stitched it on a piece of 28ct mystery linen that I found in my stash and plan on finishing it as a pillow ornie.

Christmas in July

Ho Ho Ho! by Val's Stitchin' Stuff
stitched on 20 ct opalescent Lugana
stitched by Lynn

I started this little kitty at the beginning of the month and he stitched up pretty quickly. I have very little time for finishing with my work schedule so will have to wait until I have some vacation time (other than summer vacation) in which to do a mass finishing project. I'm going to try and sneak a few days off in the fall in which to get everything done before the holidays.

June ornament

Okay, so I know I've only managed to finish two ornaments so far this year but trust me that's two more than last year!
My June ornament is by Angel Stitchin and is called Christmas Joy. It's from one of the JCS ornament issues. I can't remember which issue right now but if anyone is interested I can look up the year. I'd like to finish it as a pillow ornament.

An introduction

Hi everyone! I'm Lynn, a new member to the group and want to thank Jennifer very much for the invite. I mentioned on my blog that I hoped to get some ornaments done in the new year and I'm hoping that all of you can keep me motivated to do just that. I finished my first ornament just after the New Year although it was a work in progress since the beginning of December. Holiday activities just kept pushing it aside. I'll post this as my first contribution to the group. I'm new to finishes so bear with me since that may take me a bit longer!
