Now I have my primary blog on Wordpress, I keep forgetting to come over to the Blogger dashboard and upload piccies to the Blogger blogs ... I'm not updating with the latest ornies I've stitched since my last update in January - I have stitched an ornie every month, just keep forgetting to post! All these ornies are from the 2007 JCS Christmas ornament issue.

A second May ornie
I stitched a second ornie because I had enough left over fabric after stitching the first one this month. This one is "Snowflake Heart" from Wild Heart Designs in JCS 2006 Christmas Ornaments. Once again, mystery cloth and mystery threads as I continue to shrink my stash. To give the design more depth, I used one strand each of two different colours.

Don't forget this weekend is our Stitch-A-Long weekend for the month of May. Here in the US, it's also the unofficial start of summer with the Memorial Day Weekend, and many lucky stitchers will have Monday off as well.

Trying to catch up......

I finished another Christmas ornament. I am trying to catch up on my ornaments so I can start my Christmas Stockings! I found this free chart by Eterna Silk. I used a DMC green for the leaves and the "Poinsettia" color floss from Sampler Threads. I also used an Aida fabric that had flecks of gold in it. I think this is my Jan ornament. Have a great day stitching Laurel

April Ornament finish

Last night and today I focused on stitching my APRIL Christmas Ornament for the Stitch-a-long. Here is my Angel for April. She is a Told In A Garden free chart from 1986 called "Amish Angel". I did one of these way back in the day for my daughter Bethannie and she still hangs on my tree at Christmas. I need to get caught up on my ornaments! I still have several to do. I am going to take a few days to do finishing later this year. Have a great day stitching. huggerz and prayers wrapped up in sitches. laurel

New Featured Stitchers, New Themes!
I was a little startled when I realized this was the first day of May and I had to update the themes and the featured stitchers on the blog. I've gotten the list of featured stitchers up, so feel free to check out their blogs and stitching albums.
Don't forget - if you have an online stitching album or stitching blog that you'd like to list in our contributors section, please let me know. I'll make sure I get a link up so we can come and check out your work. As usual, I try to keep the list of blogs updated, so if you haven't updated your blog in four or more months, it will be removed from the list. It's not much fun for your fellow stitchers to check out an abandoned or empty blog. And if you switch blogging platforms, be sure to let me know the new address and I'll make the change. All active blogs (and stitching albums) are eligible for the Stitchers of the Month.
The May Themes will be up a little later. It takes me some extra time to set that up, so I'm working on that now.

Snowman's Holiday Ornament

My March & April Ornaments
Poinsettia

I actually got two stitched over this past weekend. I'm stitching poinsettias right now, I plan to pick Santas next to stitch. Anyway, this one is Poinsettia by Brittercup Designs and appeared in the 2007 JCS special issue. I changed the colorway to "brighten" it up just a bit, using Ozark Sampler flosses, and it's stitched on a plain white piece of linen (a real departure for me, LOL) that I found in my fabric tub.

My April ornament
Design: Silent Night
Designer: Elizabeth's Designs
Fibers: DMC 500,726.840,930. Marlitt 800, WDW Collards
Fabric: ?? 28ct
I was able to get this stitched on Sunday. Just in the nick of time. I substituted fibers for what I had on hand. The falling snow did not show up well, so I may stitch this one again on a different fabric.

Poinsettia Pocket Ornmanet

I'm back to stitching ornaments again, and on a poinsettia kick. Have scoured all my JCS Ornament Special Issues looking for the charts, here is the first one to be stitched. It went quick! I just started it yesterday evening, and now it's done. The designer is Samplers and Such, and it appeared in the 2005 JCS special issue.

A Colonial Christmas Ornament
Here is my latest ornament, "A Colonial Christmas Ornament" by Cherished Stitches from the 2007 JCS Ornament Issue. There are a few things about this piece that I should mention: First, instead of beads I chose to do French knots for the holly berries. Second, the date and the holly on the third panel are stitched over one... on 36 count! Third, I am especially proud of the cording that I made. After two or three years of making my own cording, I finally made a length that has uniform tension!

An in-between finish
I finished this one the other night when I finally received the packet of beads I needed to put on the last 10 beads! The ornament is the Victorian Lace Snowflake from the JCS 2007 Ornaments issue by Karen Kluba of Rosewood Manor. I used stuff from my stash----mystery cloth, metallic variegated DMC and Mill Hill beads 03003 instead of the materials called for in the pattern.
March ornament finish
Here is my Ornament finish for March. Plz don't laugh at my finishing skills. LOL This was my first attempt at making a finish like this.
Chart comes from the magazine Cross Stitch and country crafts 1995 . It is called Santa's mitten
Lovely Ornies
Everyone's ornies are very very nice! It inspires me to work on some of the designs that I have in my stash as well. Happy Stitching!!
